The Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) National Junior Championship returns to its traditional calendar slot with a vision to create a diverse athletic carnival for all junior bowlers.
Following yesterday’s announcement of the ranked event schedule, we are thrilled to reveal the details of the much-anticipated TBA National Junior Championship for 2024.
The Championship is set to take place on 12-20 April 2024 at the AGL National High-Performance Centre on the Sunshine Coast in QLD, returning to its historical traditional calendar slot to ensure minimal disruption to the Ranked Event program.

This year, the Championship aims to foster athletic pathways and create a multi-event carnival that appeals to junior athletes of all ages and abilities. The event will be a condensed Championship where squad performances will be used for Masters qualification.

- Championship Squads: Bowlers can participate in Singles, Doubles, and Team events. The Team squads will involve a Trios format, replacing the traditional 5-person teams. Championship squads will serve as the qualifying round for the Masters.
- Masters: The event will host multiple age-based categories, including under 12, under 14, and under 18, ensuring a platform for young talents of all ages to shine.
- Presidents Shield: This traditional state vs. state elite competition will see five-person teams battling it out over three days. Next year’s event will be the 36th running of the prestigious event and a return to the traditional state & territory representative format. International invitational teams are also set to attend to compete against the best of the Aussie states and territories. A draft process will be conducted for those bowlers who miss selection for their home states.
- TPL Next Gen: Introducing a new high-profile Franchise event – a baker team event where centres, pro shops, and bowling companies can enter a franchise team. The format, loosely based on World Youth Champions, will include qualifying, matchplay, and finals, with the exact format still under consideration.

- Corporate and Community Afternoon: Replacing the evening presentation dinner, a special event day will be conducted, promising a unique experience for all attendees.
- Potential International Event: To conclude the championships, a special showcase of elite Australian and International talent.

The Championship is scheduled to be a 9-day event, packed with excitement, competition, and camaraderie. Additional detailed information and schedule will be released shortly, so stay tuned!
Tenpin Bowling Australia eagerly looks forward to hosting this diverse and inclusive event and witnessing the young athletes showcase their talents. With a range of competitions and special events, the 2024 TBA National Junior Championship will be a memorable experience for athletes, families, and fans.
