Tenpin Bowling Australian Hall of Famer Eric Jang won the first Australian major bowling tournament back in 1962.

The event was the Brunswick 10,000 National All Stars Singles Championship at Leichhardt Bowl in Sydney.

The winner of that first major Australian tournament became Australian bowling’s first superstar, and that person was Sydney’s Eric Jang. With his win, Eric received a trophy, a trip around the world by Qantas, a thousand pounds, and the right to represent Australia at the World’s Invitational Championships held in Chicago that same year.

Eric Jang continues his commitment to bowling in Australia to this day. He is currently the Australian head coach for both the Adult men and Senior National Training Squads and representative teams.
