In a first for a National Sporting Organisation (NSO) in Australia, Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) is excited to announce a partnership with digital communications platform Cérge to elevate service levels to customers with a disability at the AGL National High-Performance centre on the Sunshine Coast.
Cérge is a communications platform for organisations to provide personalised assistive service to customers with disability and a marketing platform to promote accessible features. For customers with disability, Cérge is a companion app available to download on both apple and android devices.
“We are really excited to implement this innovative application at the centre to help reduce any fear, anxiety, and discrimination that individuals with a disability may endure as a customer,” explained TBA Chief Executive Officer, Rohan O’Neill.
“The aim from our perspective is two-fold; firstly, we want the AGL National High Performance to be welcoming and inclusive to all people. Secondly, we believe this platform will be beneficial to other tenpin bowling centres across the country and we can provide centres with direct feedback on the benefits of including Cérge in their business operations,” added O’Neill.
The theme of this year’s International Day of People with disability celebrations was “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world”.

“Implementing the Cérge solution will support our goals to continue this work and ensure the AGL National High-Performance Centre personnel provide an inclusive experience for all customers,” added O’Neill.
A staggering statistic shows of the 4.4 million people living with a disability in Australia over 70% of people have an invisible disability.
An ‘invisible’ disability is not obvious, or not always obvious, to other people. These may include visual, intellectual, or physical impairments and mental health issues, including post-traumatic stress disorders.
“Statistics show that the most significant source of discrimination for individuals with a disability is from service and hospitality” explained Cérge co-founder Chris Kerrisk.
“Everyone deserves an environment where they feel safe to enjoy the many benefits tenpin bowling can provide and it isn’t always apparent that a customer has a disability that requires specialised service to allow one to enjoy the sport.
“Along with the AGL National High-Performance centre, we want people to focus on the fun they have bowling, and with the help of Cérge, customers will have the ability to better equip the centre to achieve this goal” added Kerrisk.
Local Sunshine Coast residents have enthusiastically embraced Cérge and are excited for the partnership with Tenpin Bowling Australia.
Hayley Pouliot is a mum with a neurodivergent son and it can be challenging getting in and out of venues without her son getting overwhelmed.
“It is incredibly helpful just knowing someone will be there expecting our arrival to keep us on track and making it seamless. Having our shoes already laid out and lane set up is so simple but will remove a lot of pressure on us to avoid getting overwhelmed and staying on task.”
Belinda Harris who uses a wheelchair is often apprehensive before visiting a venue for the first time not knowing what to expect “the Cérge app will show me many photos of Suncity Tenpin and a detailed access guide so I know that the venue is well catered for people with mobility issues. I have Cerebral Palsy with a speech impairment and it was wonderful to be able to communicate my needs before I arrive through the Cerge app.”
Cérge also ensures customers remain in complete control of when and where they share their customer service preference information in exchange for personalised service. By communicating directly between app and our point of sale ensures all communications remain discreet and private.
