Tenpin Bowling Australia in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission are thrilled to offer students in Year 7 and Year 8 a new Tenpin Bowling program offering for Sporting Schools.
The national program offers an excellent introduction to students and teachers learning Tenpin Bowling for the first time and provides an extension for schools already familiar with the sport.
Flexibility is given to all schools on where they can complete the program; with Bowling Centres right across Australia, schools have the option to complete the program in centre, and for those schools not within striking distance, there are in-school resources to be able to teach Tenpin Bowling in a fun and positive environment.
Tenpin Bowling Australia CEO Rohan O’Neill was pleased to welcome a Sporting Schools offering to Year 7 & 8 students;
“We are looking forward to more students and young people learning Tenpin Bowling in their school through the assistance of the Year 7 and 8 program and transitioning through to their local Bowling Centre and enjoying a lifelong sport.”

One of the first adopters of the program, Eliza Hoelscher, Coordinator of Sports Development at St James College in Brisbane was excited for Year 7 and 8 students across Australia to experience Tenpin Bowling:
“Our St James College Year 7 Students experienced Tenpin Bowling in Term 3 this year and loved the program. The combination of the teaching resources with an in-centre visit was so popular in Term 3 that we’ve organised additional Year 7 classes to do the program in Term 4.”
“We will definitely be utilising the sporting schools grant for bowling Term 1 next year!”
National Participation Manager at Tenpin Bowling Australia, Sean O’Kane, was excited about the opportunities it gives students in their early secondary years;
“We’re excited for all Year 7 and 8 students to have the opportunity to play Tenpin Bowling and learn new skills through the Sporting Schools program. In addition to skill development, Tenpin Bowling is a great social and inclusive sport and for students in Years 7 and 8, those aspects are just as important.”

As part of the program, Tenpin Bowling Australia will provide the resources, skills and support for teachers, who will be equipped with a teaching manual and videos to start the school’s Tenpin journey.
A Teacher-led package in-school starts from $550 which includes all resources, a Tenpin Bowling Ball and Pins. For students who require more assistance with Tenpin Bowling, portable ramps are also available for purchase.
Schools interested in bowling in a centre can also get connect with Tenpin Bowling Australia to find a package to suit your school.
