TBA Announces 2022 National Ranked Event Schedule

Tenpin Bowling Australia has confirmed the dates and schedule for the 2022 National Ranked Event season.

Following an improved completion rate of ranked events in 2021 compared to 2020, the start of the 2022 season is now only 78 days away with the Queensland Hammer Seniors Classic kicking off the new year once again at Caboolture Bowl & Mini Golf.

Six of the nation’s eight states and territories currently play host to ranked events throughout the year with additional inclusions coming from two events that are yet to be determined.

“Following a challenging two years for bowlers and tournament organisers due to COVID restrictions, we are hopeful things are now on the improve allowing an increased completion rate of all scheduled ranked events for 2022” explained TBA Events Manager Kortnee Morcus.

The purpose of the National Rankings System is to provide an opportunity for bowlers to compete in Australia’s major tournaments allowing a chance to compete for national titles and collect ranking points to monitor their performance based on results performed on challenging conditions.

There is a total of ten divisions that span five age groups:

  • Junior – (Female and Male):  A Junior is defined as a bowler who has not reached the age of 18 years on January 1st of the current year.
  • Youth – (Female and Male):  A Youth is defined as a bowler who has not reached the age of 21 years on January 1st of the current year.
  • Women’s – Adult
  • Open – Adult
  • Seniors (Female and Male) – A Senior is defined as a bowler who must attain the age of 50 years or above in the year of the competition.
  • Grand Seniors (Female and Male) – A Grand Senior is defined as a bowler who must attain the age of 60 years or above in the year of the competition.

Participation in ranked events is open to all TBA members but ranking points will only be recorded for TBA silver members (league/junior PLUS Silver upgrade) that compete in a scheduled National Ranked Event.

In 2022, the requirement to register for rankings in addition to being a TBA silver member has been removed. Moving forward, the only requirement to receive ranking points will be to be a full TBA silver member (League/Junior + silver Upgrade) before bowling their first ball in that ranked event.

Tenpin Bowling Australia’s Ranked Event calendar currently runs on a 3-year period. Next year will be the third and final year of a period that commenced in 2020.

The first event in the Women’s division is the Northern Territory Cup. Previously known as the Darwin Tenpin Cup, the event has been rebranded and will kick off the division at Dustbowl in Alice Springs on 28-30 January 2022.

All information regarding entry forms and oiling patterns will be released once received by tournament organisers and approved by TBA.
