The first junior division ranked event for the year will kick off at Coolangatta Tweed Tenpin this weekend with the ninth running of the Queensland Junior Cup (QJC).

Limited spots are available for the popular event with 92 bowlers scheduled to compete over the weekend. After hosting the event for the first time in 2022, Coolangatta Tweed Tenpin will again be the stage of this weekend’s action.

After winning his first ranked event at this event in 2021, Blake Walsh will return once again as the defending champion and be bowling for his third successive title. Tamika Pettigrew who won the female division in 2022 will return this year as a youth bowler after aging out and will now compete in the Queensland Youth Cup event (not ranked).

Bowlers will complete 12 qualifying games with the aim to make the top 12 that advance to stage two of the QJC. The remainder of the field out of the cut will have their handicap added to their qualifying pinfall with the top 4 then to compete in the handicap final.

The top 12 males and top 12 females will bowl a further 5 games with pinfall to carry over. The top six of each gender will then advance to matchplay with pinfall to carry over.  The top six will then complete five games of matchplay with bonus pins activated.

The boy and girl with the highest aggregate pinfall will be declared the 2023 Queensland Junior Cup champions.
