Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) is pleased to unveil the athletes selected in the 2022 NTS 21 squad.
NTS 21 takes over from the previously named TBA Youth National Training Squad and will continue to be a team for athletes aged 21 and under.
NTS 21 Head coach Geoff Bowness says the squad is a terrific mix of current and new players.
“There is some great depth in the squad with the more senior members of the squad being able to show the way to the new squad members,” he explained.
Bowness says the focus of the squad will be the IBF Junior World Cup (Under 21), which was originally set to be held in 2021 but was moved to July 2022 with the original appointed venue in Helsingborg, Sweden to be the host. TBA continues to await final official confirmation that the event will proceed.
Closer to home, domestically the ranked events, which are premium events used to rank bowlers across Australia, will also be of importance to the team. Looking ahead to 2022, there will be four of these events on offer from February to November with the date and host of the TBA21 Masters still to be confirmed.
“I have watched their development in a pre and post covid world now for some time, but I am looking forward to being able to watch many of the bowlers face-to-face for the first time during 2022,” Bowness said.
“We spend a lot of time on athlete development programs and fitness. 2022 starts a brand-new point in time, almost like a reset button. For athletes, participation in events is one thing, but evolving in the physical and mental game through coordinated personal practice sessions is so important,” added Bowness.
The unveiling of the NTS 21 team follows the announcement of the NTS Open and NTS 50 teams earlier this week, with the final NTS team, NTS 18 to be released on Friday 10 December.
The announcement of the National Training Squad’s follows the release of NTS Evolution, which detailed changes to TBA’s High-Performance program.
