Celebrating National Carers Week 2023 – Tenpin Bowling Australia’s Tribute to Carers

At Tenpin Bowling Australia, we proudly recognise and celebrate the unsung heroes of our nation during National Carers Week, observed from Sunday, October 15th to Saturday, October 21st, 2023.

Carers selflessly dedicate a staggering 2.2 billion hours of invaluable care each year. This National Carers Week, Tenpin Bowling extends its heartfelt appreciation to every carer who has shared the joy of a game and contagious smiles on the lanes.

We are fortunate to be a part of a sporting community that is committed to promoting inclusion and equity at every level of the game. Whether you’re taking your first steps in bowling or competing at the Para World Cup, carers provide essential support to our bowlers with disabilities, ensuring they can participate equitably and inclusively, tailored to their individual needs.

For instance, carers assisting novice bowlers can access valuable resources like “Bowl Abilities.” This online, free Lane Ranger training program includes eight one-hour session plans, word boards, social stories, and visual schedules (visit bowlabilities.com.au/lane-rangers). It is an ideal tool for carers guiding novice bowlers, enhancing their knowledge, or assisting individuals with disabilities as they embark on their coaching journey.

Many centres within our network offer discounted games for carers, including companion card holders. Be sure to check with your local centre for specific details. Our partners at Zone Bowling also offer discounts for accompanying carers—find more information here.
