Relive the Golden Era of Bowling! Were you lighting up the lanes in the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, or ’90s? Then, it’s time to dust off those bowling shoes for the Bowlers Reunion 2024. Designed with you in mind, this event is a heartfelt nod to those vibrant decades of Australian bowling, hosted at the iconic Wyncity Keon Park bowl.
A Tribute to Friendship and Passion
Warren Stewart, the reunion organiser, and a figure synonymous with Australian bowling, shares, “After attending several funerals of close friends and bowlers in 2023, I felt it was time to celebrate our connections beyond the lanes. This reunion, set alongside the John Sullivan Australian Senior Open, is our chance to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate our shared history.”
Bowling for 50 plus years, Warren has seen and been involved in the sport a lot. Reaching the pinnacle at all levels of the pathway in junior, youth, adult and senior, Warren has played with and against the best the sport has provided and more importantly, made lifelong friends along the way. During that journey, Warren has countless stories to share.
“Winning the Australian Masters changed my bowling life,” explained Warren.
“It gave me automatic entry into the Australian FIQ Team in 1988 and we went to Hong Kong where our team won a silver medal. I placed high enough in the master’s to earn a spot to be in the Asian Zone Olympic Pre-Qualifier.
“So, with the National Sporting Organisation, Carol Gianotti, and Carol’s Dad Bruno, we travelled to Apopka Florida, then to Seoul, Korea, to the Olympics where bowling was a demonstration sport. It was amazing to be part of the bowling push and be at the Olympics while also supporting Carol before she went on to be the great professional bowler that she became” added Warren.
