The sound of falling tenpins is music to the ears of the Patrollers from around Australia as Bowl Patrol programs resume.
COVID closures forced them off the lanes for the last 4 or so months, but they cannot wait to get back into it in term 3.
NSW alone has over $50million worth of unused ActiveKids sport vouchers, suitable to programs including Bowl Patrol, many other states and territories have followed suit, with the exception of ACT and VIC.

Bowl Patrol is the national, junior learn to bowl program designed for kids from 6-12 years. It introduces the sport of Tenpin Bowling in a fun and active way, so the kids do not sit still! With shortened lanes and progress incentives, the Patrollers are bowling without gutter-guards from the first session.
Off-lane target games and great tips like the “Rock On” ball hold and “Spiderman Release” keep it fun and focussed. “Laying carpets on the lanes allows the kids to get closer to the pins and have a better chance of success. It also means they develop the balance and targeting needed to play the sport”, says WA’s Tenpin Development Officer, Mia Buswell.
“Many centres have reopened their doors now and are taking the public safety very seriously with extra hygiene protocols and physical distancing encouraged in-centre” remarked Emily Rennes, TBA’s Programs & Development Manager. “The program is a great way for centres to offer more than pin-balling the ball down bumpered lanes, the technique the children learn equips them with skills that’ll last a lifetime”.
