Jason Belmonte will get a chance to defend his 2019 Chameleon title at the 2020 World Series of Bowling after progressing through the rounds of 16 and 8 in Virginia, USA today.

The day began with Belmonte defeating Josh Blanchard in three straight games in the round of 16 stage– 254-209, 244-166, and 201-192. The defeat for Blanchard would be his last appearance as a pro after announcing his retirement from professional bowling.

The win would advance Belmonte to the round of 8 where he would face fellow two-hander, Jesper Svensson. As always, the Iceman from Sweden would provide a challenge by winning the first game before Belmo would run away with three straight to win in four games– 232-246, 238-174, 212-210, and 247-203.

Belmo will join fellow round 8 winners EJ Tackett, Brad Miller and Anthony Simonsen in the TV show for the Chameleon title of the World Series of Bowling Championship. Scheduled for Monday morning 2:00AM Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST), the first opponent in the final will be against PBA fan-favourite Brad Miller.

Action will continue tomorrow where Belmo will compete in the Scorpion Championship of the World Series of Bowling. Action is set to kick off from 1:00AM AEST.

Belmonte is the number one seed for the Scorpion Championship, but his matchup for the round of 16 will be anything but an easy one.

His first opponent will be Anthony Simonsen. An opponent that will be keen to revenge his loss to Belmonte at the 2020 PBA World Championship in March, the last before COVID put a pause on the season.

The winner will advance to the round of 8 and play the winner out of Kenneth Ryan and Darren Tang for a ticket to the top four tv show that will air from 12:00pm AEST.

As always for all the news head to PBA and Flobowling. All stages of the World Series Bowling are available to stream for international viewers for Flobowling subscribers.
