The 2021 PBA Tour season is set to begin tomorrow with the PBA Players Championship opening the new year with a huge prize find on offer.

The Australian duo of Jason Belmonte and Sam Cooley will be flying the Australian flag as they embark on the one-million-dollar prize fund event with the eventual winner taking home $250,000.

For the first time in PBA history, five regional events will take place across the United States with bowlers vying to finish in the top five to progress to the stepladder regional finals. The winners of each event will compete in the PBA Players Championship Finals on February 22nd (Australian time).

After winning in 2011 and 2017, Jason Belmonte is striving to become the first player in PBA history to win four different majors on three separate occasions. Belmonte will look to continue his hot streak on tour after winning the final two majors of 2020 – the U.S. Open and World Championship. A win in the 2021 PBA Players Championship will see three straight major victories for Belmo- a feat not accomplished since Norm Dukes streak to the 2007-2008 season.

The two Aussies in Belmonte and Cooley have been assigned to the West Region tournament. The host centre is Bowlero Christown in Phoenix, Arizona.

Both will compete in four rounds of seven games over two days totalling 28 qualifying games. At the conclusion of the qualifying games, the top five bowlers will advance to the regional stepladder finals where the winner will progress to the PBA Players Championship Finals.
