TBA50 Cup

INFORMATION

The TBA50 Cup finals are scheduled for the 12th August 2021.

Open to all male and female bowlers who are at least 50 years of age as at 1 January 2022. Qualifying in any three (3) game singles, doubles or team event. AN ALL EVENTS ENTRY IS NOT REQUIRED TO QUALIFY FOR FINALS. Finalists must check in by 11.30am on Thursday 12 August.

National Ranking Points will be allocated to all players registered for ranking points in both the TBA50 and TBA60 male and female divisions of this event. See separate page for event details.

ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all TBA members in good standing and all non-resident bowlers who are a member of an affiliated federation who are at least fifty (50) years of age as at 1 January 2022. Australian residents must show their current TBA membership cards and affiliated federation members must show their proof of federation membership at check-in. There will be a male and female division and all rules apply to both divisions.

QUALIFYING

Qualifying series will be the highest three (3) game qualifying attempt bowled during the TBA50 Championship until completion of the 9.30am squad on Thursday 12 August.

The top six (6) male and female qualifiers will join the list of automatic qualifiers below to make up the maximum of fifteen (15) male and female qualifiers who will compete in the matchplay finals. State and Territory TBA50 Masters Champions cannot be eliminated by virtue of their qualifying score. In the event of a tie for 15th place or lowest qualifying positions excluding automatic qualifiers, a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken.

Automatic Qualifiers

The following bowlers will receive automatic entry into the matchplay finals section;

• The eight (8) Male and Female State and Territory TBA50 Masters Champions
• The one (1) Male and Female defending champion

State and Territory TBA50 Masters Champions cannot be eliminated by virtue of their qualifying score. In the event of a tie for 20th place or lowest qualifying positions excluding automatic qualifiers, a single game will be played to break the tie. Any subsequent tie will require a 9th & 10th frame playoff until the tie is broken.

SEMI FINALS

All players will bowl a single six game block, moving pairs after every second game. The top six (6) male and female qualifiers will join the list of automatic qualifiers below to make up the maximum of fifteen (15) male and female qualifiers who will compete in the matchplay finals. In the event of a tie for 15th place a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken. Any automatic qualifier spots not taken will be returned to the semi-finals pool accordingly.

Automatic Qualifiers
The following bowlers will receive automatic entry into the matchplay finals section;
• The eight (8) Male and Female State and Territory Open Masters Champions
• The one (1) Male and Female defending champion

MATCH PLAY FINALS

Male and female players will complete seven (7) games in a Tri-Matchplay format with 30 pins for a win and 15 pins for second being awarded. At the conclusion of seven (7) games the top three (3) male and female players will progress to the stepladder finals. In the event of a tie for 15th place a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken.

STEPLADDER FINALS

The third and second placed male and female players will play a single game match to determine the winner. In the event of a tie, a full game will be replayed to determine the winner. If there is a second tie, a Golden Strike will determine the winner with the highest placed bowler deciding whether to start or follow. Bowlers will play one frame at a time, alternating lanes, until one bowler strikes in a frame when the other doesn’t to determine the winner.

The winner of this match will play the first placed player and will play a single game match to determine the champion. In the event of a tie, a full game will be replayed to determine the champion. If there is a second tie, a Golden Strike will determine the champion with the first placed player deciding whether to start or follow. Players will play one frame at a time, alternating lanes, until one player strikes in a frame when the other doesn’t to determine the champion.

  • Qualifying- Included in squad entry fee
  • Finals – $140 (Defending champion, if eligible, have a free entry)

1st- $600 plus Trophy
2nd- $300 plus Trophy
3rd- $200 plus Trophy
4th- $150
5th- $150
