The top twelve (12) male and female qualifiers will join the list of automatic qualifiers below to make up the maximum of 20 male and female qualifiers who will compete in the semi-finals. State and Territory TBA21 Masters Champions cannot be eliminated by virtue of their qualifying score. In the event of a tie for 20th place or lowest qualifying positions excluding automatic qualifiers, a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken.
Semi-Finals
All players will bowl a single six-game block, moving pairs after every second game. The top fifteen (15) male and female players will progress to the Matchplay Finals. In the event of a tie for 15th place a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken.
Match play Finals
Male and female players will complete seven (7) games in a Tri-Matchplay format with 30 pins for a win and 15 pins for second being awarded. At the conclusion of seven (7) games the top three (3) male and female players will progress to the stepladder finals. In the event of a tie for 3rd place a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken.
Stepladder Finals
The third and second-placed male and female players will play a single game match to determine the winner. In the event of a tie, a full game will be replayed to determine the winner. If there is a second tie, a Golden Strike will determine the winner with the highest placed bowler deciding whether to start or follow. Bowlers will play one frame at a time, alternating lanes, until one bowler strikes in a frame when the other doesn’t to determine the winner.
The winner of this match will play the first placed player and will play a single game match to determine the champion. In the event of a tie, a full game will be replayed to determine the champion. TBA21 Team Challenge
27-28th July 2021
The TBA21 Team Challenge (formerly the National Youth Team Challenge) was established by Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited in May 2002.
The format remains the same and is the same as what was completed for the President’s Shield competition. The format utilises the international team event format. The structure will see teams bowl three events (singles, doubles, teams) over three separate days awarding medals to the top three placegetters in each event.
Individual performances throughout the three events will award points after each of the division’s events. At the conclusion of the three-day event, three champion teams will be crowned for the male division, female division, and combined division.
We wish all bowlers the best of luck and high scoring for the event!
Schedule
Due to two teams in attendance, the event has been condesned to two days. The event will run from 27-28 July 2021.
- Tuesday 27th July – Singles & Doubles
- Wednesday 28th July – Teams
Match play Finals
Male and female players will complete seven (7) games in a Tri-Matchplay format with 30 pins for a win and 15 pins for second being awarded. At the conclusion of seven (7) games the top three (3) male and female players will progress to the stepladder finals. In the event of a tie for 3rd place a 9th & 10th frame playoff will be played until the tie is broken.
Teams
Due to the expanding COVID restrictions enforced on states coupled with some state and territories unable to field teams for the challenge, there will be two teams competing for the 2021 TBA21 Team Challenge.
- Queensland
- New Zealand
Both teams have been consulted and both are motivated and committed to bowl the event. Moving the singles and doubles to one day will allow the visiting team from New Zealand to fly home on Wednesday as directed by their government.
