TBA has partnered with Strike 3 Bowling to include an Under 14 Junior Australian Masters event for the upcoming Australian National Championship (ANC).
ANC 2021 will be offering separate competitions for under 14, under 16 and 18 age groups throughout the junior section of ANC 2021.
Following a comprehensive review in 2019 of the National Championship and pathway structure, recommendations included introducing age categories to Junior Championships to help the sport rebuild the grassroots base.
The establishment of an Under 14 Masters event will ensure the sport can provide a closely aligned pathway from its national participation program – Bowl Patrol. The inclusion of the event will also offer the opportunity to recognise future elite bowlers at a younger age allowing connections to occur with national programs and pathways.
Like all sports, Tenpin Bowling faces the challenge of retaining teenage participants within the sport. Creating an additional step along the pathway for bowlers to aspire to with the Under 14 Junior Australian Masters will ensure any young junior looking to build a long-term career in our sport has a platform to showcase their skills with similar aged athletes.
The ANC2021 Junior section gets underway on Tuesday 20th July with the Under 14 Junior Australian Masters being scheduled for Friday 23rd July.
