Tenpin Bowling Australia (TBA) has released the 2020 Selection Requirements for National teams alongside the National Training Squad Policy.

The Selection Requirements for National teams document outlines the criteria and processes used to select Australian teams in 2020, with the National Training Squad Policy outlining the criteria and processes to select the junior, youth, open men’s, open  women’s and seniors National Training Squads in 2020.

With a number of key international events next year, TBA’s High Performance Manager Mike Griffith said he is excited about High Performance in 2020.

“Next year will be another big year for our Australian teams, with the Asian Adult, World Youth, Asian Schools and World Singles Championships being held,” Griffith said.

Key Changes Have Been Made

Following the release of both policies, Griffith said some key changes have been made and anyone looking to be part of TBA’s High Performance program in 2020 is encouraged to view the documents.

“Following a review of the 2019 High Performance program, TBA has made a number of changes to streamline the processes involved in selecting teams and squads to also ensure greater transparency and success on the lanes.”

“This year will see athletes no longer needing to lodge an expression of interest with TBA to be selected into the NTS. Aligning with other sports in Australia, we will have a greater focus on talent identification,” Griffith added.

“Eligibility requirements and selection criteria still exist, and are outlined in the two policies. I encourage all interested athletes to read the policies as some changes have been made”.

Eligible silver member athletes who meet some of the selection criteria are currently being considered by the selectors for the available NTS positions. 2020 NTS invitations will be start to be released over the next couple of weeks, with the NTS squads expected to be finalised and announced publicly in early December.
