For the third time in four events the World Bowling Senior Championships will be held in Las Vegas and TBA’s High Performance Committee has announced the Australian team who will contest the nine-day tournament from the 2nd till 10th of September.
Returning to the team in 2019 is 2015 World Seniors singles gold medalist Andrew Frawley. Frawley also competed in 2017 at the World’s in Munich where he came home with a bronze medal in the doubles and all events competitions.
Also returning to the team is Jeanette Baker. Having won bronze in the team’s event in 2015, Baker will compete in her third World Seniors event and will be joined by Heather Robertson who will compete at her second World Seniors Championship after competing in the inaugural event at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas in 2013.
The 2019 team will also welcome 1998 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Michael Muir back into the green and gold after the Western Australian last represented Australia at the 2003 World Championships. The men’s team will also include first time Australian representatives Andrew Thorpe and Mick Talevski who finished the 2018 ranked events circuit in first and second place respectively, with Thorpe currently leading the 2019 rankings.
The team will also welcome Christine Clark and Mary Dodds into green and gold, with Christine Clark beginning 2019 in great form winning the Campbelltown Vintage Classic and Seniors Australian Open and Dodds finishing the best of the senior women in 2018 after winning three ranked events.
