NT to Host Opening Women’s National Ranked Event of 2019

Friday, February 01, 2019

Bowlers will head to Darwin this weekend when Planet Tenpin plays host to the first women’s ranked event of 2019 when the Fishing and Outdoor World Ladies Classic gets underway on Saturday at 3.30pm.

In this year’s tournament, 2018 runner up Bec Whiting will be looking to finish on top of the podium again after winning the title twice in her illustrious career. But the Victorian star will have memories from 2018 where eventual winner Marah Harmsworth led from qualifying and defeated Whiting by 1 pin in the final game.

For Whiting who dominated the women’s division in 2018, it will be previous winners Bec Voukolos and Bec Martin who will be ones to keep an eye on. Having represented Australian on the international stage both bowlers have the game to win in Darwin this weekend, with Voukolos possessing the local knowledge when it comes to the conditions at Planet Tenpin.

Another bowler who will feel at home this weekend is NT representative and 2018 Australian Masters winner – Jamie Maglieri. The 22-year-old took the prestigious title after defeating Alexia Hicks in the final.

Other notable entrants who can take the title this weekend will be Narelle Baker who placed 3rd last year and Jenny Notman who finished in 4th.

With plenty of action over the two days keep an eye on visit for all the standings and winners.
