Kegel Qld Open Goes Live at Caboolture

Thursday, March 08, 2018

Caboolture Bowl will host Australia’s leading bowlers at this weekend’s Kegel Queensland Open in what will be the first open ranked event on the 2018 bowling calendar.

Across three days, competitors will bowl 12 games of qualifying with the aim of progressing through stages two and three on Sunday morning and then on to the seven game match play finals in the afternoon.

Boasting a star studded field, the tournament will get underway on Friday night at 6.30pm (QLD time) and bowling fans will once again be in for a treat with Caboolture Bowl live streaming the tournament across the weekend via its’ YouTube channel.

Featuring tomorrow night will be 2017’s leading bowler, Jarrod Langford.  The left hander will be looking to open his 2018 account this weekend after winning this tournament in 2015 and taking out the Australian Open in 2017.

Joining Langford in squad A will be the big daddy of Australian bowling, Andrew Frawley.  Breaking from his coaching duties in India, the 2015 World Senior Masters gold medallist will no doubt place himself in contention for the final rounds of the tournament.

On Saturday morning viewers will get to see PBA bowler Sam Cooley compete alongside Australia’s leading female bowler, Bec Whiting in squad B.  After competing at the Barbasol PBA Players Championship only weeks ago, Cooley has returned down under and will be looking to get his eye in for the upcoming USBC Masters in April.

Having won the 2017 Gold Coast and SA Cups and showing she has the game to beat the best male bowlers in the country, Whiting will have a great opportunity this weekend to take the title and open her 2018 ranked event account.

On Saturday afternoon in squad C, George Frilingos will compete alongside 2015 Australian Masters winner Glen Loader and rising star Blayne Fletcher.  Having won just about every tournament on the ranked event circuit, Frilingos will be looking to win another Kegel Queensland Open crown after winning back in 2011.

In squad D, 2017 Kegel Qld Open Champion Adam Hayes will compete on Saturday evening alongside leading female bowlers Bec Martin and Dena Buxton.  Hayes, who came into last year’s match play finals in 4th place, went on to win three of the seven matches and take the title by 43 pins.

With the best bowlers in Australia in action this weekend head down to Caboolture Bowl & Mini Golf, 207 Morayfield Road, Morayfield or catch all the action on the live stream all weekend here.
