Thorpe & Harrison Win Hammer Queensland Senior Classic

Andrew Thorpe and Julie Harrison have claimed the first senior ranked titles at the weekends Hammer Senior Classic.

Following qualifying on Friday and Saturday at Caboolture Bowl, the tournament winners were decided on Sunday afternoon after the final round of qualifying with Thorpe moving into top spot after bowling games of 227, 244, 226, 246, 237, 223, 227 and 203 to average 229.  This final effort saw the ATBSO bowler take the title by 55 pins and move into the Campbelltown Vintage Classic in February leading the senior men’s rankings.

Julie Harrison - 2018 Hammer Qld Seniors Classic Women's Division Winner

In the women’s division Julie Harrison fended off 2017 winner Tracey Crisp in block one of qualifying to sit in second place and within distance of leader Heather Robertson.

In the second block, Harrison found her line and moved up the leader board.  Following games of 202, 211, 194, 175, 226, 194, 201 and 217, Harrison went onto win the title and move closer to a fifth consecutive rankings points’ victory in 2018.

In the grand senior division, Darrell Holt will take home maximum points after placing highest amongst the men’s division with Heather Robertson finishing at the top of the ladies division.
