Level Two step by step process for Candidates:

 

As part of our commitment to the further development of a quality coach education framework, our Level Two Program follows the standards and ethics of the National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) and has been accredited by the Australian Sports Commission. Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited's first Level Two course will be held in Sydney on the 17th & 18th July 2010 for more information please download information sheet

 

 

Minimum Age

Candidates must be a minimum of 17 years of age on the date that the Accreditation Program requirements are completed in order to be eligible for Level 2 Tenpin Bowling Coaching Accreditation.

 

 

Step One

 

Current registered TBA Accredited L1 Coaches & TBA registered sports member. Contact your State Sporting Organisation to register your interest in completing your Level Two Coaching Accreditation.

Step Two

 

Candidates are required to complete and return the following information to officially register their interest in completing the TBA Level Two course:

a)   Evidence of current TBA sports membership

 

b)   Completed National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Registration Form including the Signed Code of Ethics and the National Personal Character Declaration

·         This form can be completed online via the Tenpin Bowling Australia website: www.tenpin.org.au   or alternatively a copy of this document can be printed off from the TBA website or provided on request from your State body.

 

c)   Accreditation Program fee of $350.00 - $500.00

·         (Please note that the Accreditation Program fee can range from $350 to $500. State/Territory Program providers may need to charge the higher fee to cover the cost of the venue and travel expenses of the facilitator, if programs are run for less than 10 candidates.  This fee can be no more than an additional $150.00 per participant and will be charged by the State/Territory at the time of the practical training and assessment day).

 

d)   Submit 2 Passport photo’s or Passport Jpeg images

·         Required to be submitted with your application and can be emailed or sent to your State body with you New Coach Registration form.

 

 

Step Three:

On receipt of your registration form, TBA membership number, passport photos and course payment, your State body will organise for you to receive a resource pack which includes the Level Two Program Outline, the Level Two Training DVD and a copy of the Level 2 Sports Specific Exam. At this time you will also be notified of your Course Presenters contact details.  

 

  

Step Four:

Candidates are required to complete all of the Level Two program theory in the comfort of their own home. There are 6 theory modules which should take candidates between 16-20 hours to complete.   Candidates are required to study all of the Level Two program DVD content which includes strike adjustment systems, matching the player and equipment and various videos of different style bowlers and provides essential information for the coach in a user friendly DVD format. The DVD has been developed by the TBA Coaching Advisory Committee. After completing the theory modules the candidate is required to request a copy of a theory exam from their nominated Course Presenter. 

On receipt of the multiple choice format exam candidates are required to complete the exam and submit it to their Presenter at least 14 days prior to the practical training and assessment day. The exam may be emailed or sent via Australia post in an airbag which can be traced.    The pass mark for this course is 85% and candidates are required to pass the theory exam before being invited to attend the practical training and assessment day.   Candidates may repeat the theory exam as necessary to meet the 85% pass mark requirement of this assessment task. After commencing the sport-specific theory component it is recommended that candidates complete the exam within 3 months. If the candidate has not completed the exam within this timeframe they are requested to contact their State or Territory Association to register their continue intention to complete the sport-specific theory component and request an extension. An additional 3 month extension should be provided to the candidate to assist in providing a flexible timeline to complete the program requirements.

 

Step Five:

Candidate attends the ‘in program’ Sport-Specific and Assessment days arranged by the Course Presenter.  If the candidate is assessed as not-yet-competent, the Course Presenter will provide the Candidate with options to develop the necessary competencies in keeping with the Level Two Competencies outlined in the Level Two Program Outline.  

 

 Step Six

 Complete the following Australian Sports Commission Intermediate Coaching General Principles Course:

·         Candidates must successfully complete the Australian Sports Commission Intermediate Coaching General Principles Course which is available through your State and Territory Departments of Sport and Recreation (listed below). Some offer face-to-face programs, while others offer the modules via correspondence. State and Territory departments of sport and recreation costs range from $160 - $250

Step Seven:

Once the candidate has completed and passed the theory exam, the ‘in program’ Sport-Specific and Assessment and also the ASC Intermediate Coaching General Principles they will be accredited with Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited and the Australian Sports Commission as a TBA Level Two Coach.  They can immediately commence coaching as Tenpin Bowling Australia Level Two Coach.

 

 

Step Eight:

Complete the feedback forms on your Presenter and the course content so that we can continue to monitor candidate response to the new TBA Level Two Course.

The new Level One Course Overview

The new course has been developed with a focus on providing candidates with a more flexible in home theory component and a practical training and assessment component which will be completed in one day.  Level One Practical training and assessment days are being planned for every State in Australia during 2010 Candidates will leave the practical training and assessment day knowing that they are competent or not yet competent as a TBA Level One Coach. 

 

Minimum Age

Please note that candidates must be 17 years of age on the date that the Accreditation Program requirements are completed to be eligible for Level One Tenpin Bowling Coaching Accreditation. However, the pre-requisites can be completed prior to turning 17 years of age.

 

Step One

Join TBA via the Tenpin Bowling Australia website www.tenpin.org.au or through their local Centre.

 

Step Two

 

Complete the following two online courses as a prerequisite to registering interest in completion of the TBA Level One course:

  • ASC online Beginning Coaching General Principles course

  • Play by the rules online Harassment and Discrimination Course

 

b)     Evidence of current TBA membership or the inclusion of the TBA league membership fee

 

c)        Completed National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Registration Form including the Signed Code of Ethics and the National Personal Character Declaration

d)    Accreditation Program fee of $175.00.

  • (Please note that the Accreditation Program fee can range from $175 to $250. State/Territory Program providers may need to charge the higher fee to cover the cost of the venue and facilitator, if programs are run for less than 10 candidates.  This fee can be no more than an additional $75.00 per participant and will be charged by the State/Territory at the time of the practical training and assessment day).

 

e)     Submit 2 Passport photo’s or Passport Jpeg images

  • Required to be submitted with your application and can be emailed or sent to your State body with you New Coach Registration form.

 

Step Four:

On receipt of your completed registration form, TBA membership number, passport photos and course payment, your State body will organise for you to receive a resource pack which includes the Level One Program Outline, the Level One Training DVD and a copy of the Australian Sports Commission resource, Beginning Coaching.   At this time you will also be notified of your Course Presenters contact details.  

 

 

Step Five:

Candidates are required to complete all of the Level One program theory in the comfort of their own home. There are 4 theory modules which should take candidates between 5-10 hours to complete.  The theory component of the Level One Tenpin Bowling Coaching Accreditation concentrates on presenting a visual display of the required basic skill drills and provides essential information for the club coach in a user friendly DVD format. The DVD has been developed by the TBA Coaching Advisory Committee. After completing the theory modules the candidate is required to request a copy of a theory exam from their nominated Course Presenter. 

On receipt of the multiple choice format exam candidates are required to complete the exam and submit it to their Presenter at least 14 days prior to the practical training and assessment day. The exam may be emailed or sent via Australia post in an airbag which can be traced.    The pass mark for this course is 70% and candidates are required to pass the theory exam before being invited to attend the practical training and assessment day.   Candidates may repeat the theory exam as necessary to meet the 70% pass mark requirement of this assessment task.

Flexible completion timelines are available however it is recommended that the candidate complete the theory exam within 12 months of commencing the sport-specific theory component.  Please refer to the TBA program outline for further information on the Level One Sport Specific Theory Competencies.

 

Step Six:

Candidate attends the Practical Training and Assessment day arranged by the Course Presenter.  If the candidate is assessed as not-yet-competent, the Course Presenter will provide the Candidate with options to develop the necessary competencies in keeping with the Level One Competencies outlined in the Level One Program Outline.  

 

Step Seven:

Once the candidate has completed and passed the theory exam and Practical Assessment they will be accredited with Tenpin Bowling Australia Limited and the Australian Sports Commission as a TBA Level One Coach.  They can immediately commence coaching within a TBA Registered Centre.

 

Step Eight:

Complete the feedback forms on both your Presenter and Course Organiser so that we can continue to monitor candidate response to the new TBA Level One Course.
