The Title is Wide Open at This Weekend’s 2019 SA Cup

The SA Cup marks the mid-point of the 2019 open ranked event calendar when it begins on Saturday morning at ZONE BOWLING Cross Road.

After winning the 2018 title, Sam Cooley won’t be in Adelaide to defend his crown and it leaves the 2019 title open for the likes of Bec Whiting, David Porto, Jayden Panella, Matthew Krinis and a number of local bowlers to hold the cup aloft on Sunday afternoon.

Having won titles on the open ranked event circuit in 2018, Bec Whiting will be amongst the favourites this weekend.  Australia’s leading female bowler has won the 2019 Fishing World Ladies Classic and Vic150 to lead the ladies’ division but after a third place at the Kegel QLD Open and missing out on the podium at the Melbourne Tenpin Cup, the 28-year-old will be one to watch in the final rounds.

Currently sitting in third on the open rankings, Adelaide bowler Matthew Krinis will be amongst the contenders this weekend.  The 28-year-old finished third at the Melbourne Tenpin Cup last month and the home crowd support could see him take his first open ranked event win.

David Porto is another who has the game to finish on top of the podium.  Porto won the 2018 Australian Masters and after competing at this year’s Australian Open and Melbourne Tenpin Cup, the former Australian representative is due for a win.

But could it be Melbourne bowler Jayden Panella’s turn this weekend? Panella finished fourth at the Australian Open and with the absence of Sam Cooley and Jarrod Langford the 21-year-old is a contender.

To catch the action this weekend head to ZONE BOWLING Cross Road, Cnr Goodwood and Cross Road, Westbourne Park, Adelaide or view all the standings across the weekend via www.tenpinresults.com.au.
